Aw, thank you! I only saw Utena for the first time last summer, but it as affected me more than pretty much any other work of fiction, be it book or television or film. There is so much within it... gah, you're gonna make me start gushing.

And no, I haven't! In fact, I haven't even seen the movie yet (Butt? I do know the ending. I think I'm going to have to see it to believe it though, because WTF? Of course, WTF!Symbolism is part of Utena's power (wee, nipple-less photo shoot!), but... Seriously? Seriously?)

Viola! Hot rod! [As a metaphor, the whole ending makes perfect sense, (like most of the imagery in the series) but the first time you see it, it's like ...o.0????]

I have to admit, when I first saw it I was...what, thirteen? So I didn't really get a hell of a lot out of it outside of the glorious, amazing crack and my love for the characters. I've been meaning to rewatch it for years.

Ohhh, you MUST watch the movie. It's so...how you say, EPIC. Expect to be disturbed/generally weirded out the first time you see it, but watch it again and suddenly the whole thing makes sense, somehow. (Also? Shiori turns into a car and explodes, which makes my pro-Ruka self very very happy.) The manga ending goes beyond the movie and helps explain a lot of the WTFness, so after watching the movie twice, read it. That is my advice for today. Now forge on, brave soldier. *salutes*
