Wow, you wrote your thesis on DT? How awesome is that! ^___^

How close were you, lol?

[identity profile] luxshine.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Amazingly, quite close. I never expected the last chapter (When Roland actually goes into the tower) or the inclusion of the kid from Insomia, but I did say that unless Roland got himself someone with artistic talent, he was doomed to fail, that RF would die/disappear and that the Ka-tet would die so... I'd say I managed to get a nice 75% all things considered.

Just out of curiosity... I didn't expect the artist thing at all. What made you think of it?

[identity profile] luxshine.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
King always puts an artist against the Evil One. Since Salem's Lot, where Ben is the one who can fight against Barlow, check all his books. There's a writer, a painter, or a lit teacher, but there's always one. And he's the one who has a passing chance to win against whatever is the Evil, like in The Stand. However, the one book where he had no artist at all, Storm of the Century, the Evil one wins. There's a bit of a pattern in his books, but it's not that obvious because it's not with the plots, but with the type of characters.

Wow, I never realized that! That's really interesting. I guess it's probably psychological. I'm going to have to read more of his books and see if I can see that myself. ^__^
