Having a really dark tan all year round is considered normal, even if your skin is normally very, very pale.

No it isn't. Unless you live in like...Miami or someplace that actually gets a sun year around. You think people in Wisconsin expect to see people with tans in January? I can guarantee you would stick out like a sore thumb.

This may boggle your mind but... other countries exist. I am from one of those other countries. Where this is considered normal.

Is it a country that has sun year around? Because if so, of course having a fucking tan all year is normal. Is it a country like Sweden where there is barely any sun and people have to take vitamins to compensate for it? Then it isn't considered normal.

Like the anon below said, surely it should be obvious that these are obtained through tanning booths and fake tan.

Oh and it's extremely common *and* considered fashionable in a plethora of countries where there isn't much sun all year round including the UK and Sweden. You fucking moron.

Italy? I lived there for a few years and I couldn't believe how obsessed people were with tanning.

Err you ever hear of tanning booths? I live in Minnesota, and you definitely see people tan all year around, even though our sunshine months are pretty limited. It's considered fashionable. I'm not saying that everyone does it, but it's extremely normal, too.

What boggles my mind is that tanning booths are still considered normal after all we know about skin cancer.

OP Yep, that's why I can't believe it's still the 'norm'.
