I don't know who he is, but he looks like half his face is missing and he has very womanly hips. So I'm not so sure he'd be considered conventionally attractive.

He's the only character that looks passably human. Besides being a robot.

I think you and I have different ideas about what "conventionally attractive" means.

So all those goatfuckers and necrophiles that are pouring out of the cracks in the Undertale fandom's walls, I just imagined those?

This. OP and I must be on opposite sides of the fandom.

Eh, I think his realtionship with Alphys and Nastablook really humanizes him and balances out his obnoxious personality.

+1
I like him for his interactions with Nastablook. I don't really find him very attractive, either.

THANK YOU. +2
It's totally his snark and his interactions with Blooky for me.

I like him because he's a flamboyant male who isn't immediately made into a joke in canon. And as a flamboyant male myself, I definitely appreciate seeing them in things, especially when they aren't later laughed at for being a big gay stereotype.

I like Mettaton as a character, but I prefer the "fax machine" version more (I also prefer Metal Crusher over Death by Glamour but that's another story).

I don't understand why he's constantly shipped with Papyrus. If anything, it seems like their relationship would be more like Papyrus seeing him preform and asking for his autograph after every show like an excited little kid, and then go run off and tell Sans while his brother is like "that's cool, bro."

They're the only ones who have anything remotely resembling normative human proportions, aside from Undyne (and she is in a canon relationship).

Therefore, if you want your m/m slash to be normal...ish... you might as well ship Metarus or ...Papyton... or whatever.
