What corners are you going to where people even acknowledge Tai Lung?

*Reads the bit about furries sending sexually explicit tweets to Tony the Tiger, blinks*

Er...I don't want to know, do I?

My reaction to the entirety of that secret. Hrrr.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-10 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
NO.

Just in case you do:

The words I saw in that link told me all I needed to know. Thank you.

Unfortunately work blocks that site. Fortunately, like the anon said, the words in the URL do a good job of explaining it.

Chester te Cheeta loves it, though. Apparently.

I liked Tai Lung but Lord Shen is definitely my favourite villain in these movies atm.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-10 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Tai Lung was alright but god damn the aesthetic of Lord Shen. His movement, his animation, the usage of feathers and eyes as symbolism (even in the fireworks). He was so much more visually interesting and I think more fun as a character.

And I am an absolute sucker for that entrance, where he drags his metal talons on the ground. Now that is some flair.

I wouldn't even consider myself a huge fan of the series but Shen was just entertaining.

I agree with you on his visual interest, but don't think he was all that interesting or well-developed as a character. (In the movie, at least; the tie-in stuff seems to have fleshed him out a lot more.) Not that Tai Lung had the richest backstory in the world, but he did have the connection of being Shifu's adopted son and, by extension, Tigress' adopted brother, which makes his story a far more personal one.

OP

(Anonymous) 2016-02-10 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Part of my fondness for Lord Shen is that he reminds me a lot of a Shakespeare villain. The scene where he introduces his "parting gift" makes me think of how Iago talks and acts, and his choice to fight Po even after realizing there's no meaning in it is pure Macbeth. It's possible I've used that impression to fill in more depth than he actually has.

No no, I think you are on to something there.

I also thought his aesthetic was really well done!
I kinda felt he was a bit inspired by the villain in Wu Ji – The Promise, played by Nicholas Tse. Ithe might be my imagination, but I think the style, colour scheme and behaviour was quite similar.

I'm sorry OP, you'll have to go back in time to around ...1998? To brain the person who came up with the word "cummies".

I think it was a furry comic author that I vaguely remember from that era.

I've heard worse reasons for using a time machine to commit murder.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-10 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
you do realize the furries were trolling right? pretty much no furry finds tony the tiger attractive.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-10 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing you are trolling right now.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-10 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know, I've never been a furry, but I was bizarrely attracted to Lord Shen.

He's exactly the kind of villain I love when they're humans, so I suppose it makes sense. But still.
