I admit it; I LOL'd.

Yes. It's a brilliantly-constructed crime/legal drama in the guise of a superhero show, and even the superhero bits mostly serve as the basis for what's ultimately a story about a bare-knuckle, dirty-fighting, raw and angry vigilante. (in other words, it's more successful in its attempt to be "realistic" than the Nolan Batman films.) It has its moments of gore (infamously, the main villain taking his anger out on someone via car door) but also some truly brilliant cinematography (including an amazing Oldboy homage) and great writing. It takes clear inspiration from the Frank Miller and Brian Bendis eras of the comic, arguably the single best runs the character's ever seen. (Seriously, you wouldn't expect it given what kind of person Frank Miller is, but his Daredevil work is probably his very best, probably because he was very young and hadn't morphed into the weird authoritarian mutant he is now. It's like all the really good Batman stories he didn't write.)

Set aside about 13-14 hours for it (it doesn't conform to standard television time blocks, thank fuck.)

Brilliant??? What show have you been watching? The one I saw was laughable even for comic book adaptation standards (but oh, so deeep and self important!) and also too boring to finish.

No. Its typical male power fantasy bullshit with heapings of Nice GuyTM thrown in. Watch Jessica Jones instead. It's better, more culturally progressive and has strong anti-hatred messages. Plus, badass ladies. and I don't mean a cast of 'awesome' dudes with a fighting fuck-toy. I mean all the badasses as women and all the women are badasses, and the closest thing to a fighting fuck-toy is the male lead.

Ehhhhh. Jessica Jones is okay. I prefer Daredevil.

DA. Too bad that the leading lady is an unlikable asshole. It's fine if you don't mind that, but I didn't manage to get past two issues of the original comic and have no interest in the show.

The lead is basically Daria with super powers and a superhero style past.

I'm glad Jessica Jones got made, and I agree it's more culturally progressive, and it has great female and minority characters.

But I would say I find Daredevil the better show by far.

Malcom is a fighting fuck-toy?

YES.

(Thought it depends on what you like) But I'll tell you what I loved about it.

- Wonderfully choreographed close-quarter fight scenes.
- Lovely depictions of friendship.
- Amazing character build-up for the villain
- Believable, fleshed-out side characters, both good and bad
- multiculturalism being depicted in an organic rather than a forced way.
- Women who are not superpowered or physically strong still being brave as hell.
- A grittiness/realistic depiction of what it would realistically be like to go out and get beat up by bad guys.

I'm sure there's more.

What the fuck was lovely about that fucking brofest?

The cinematography, the characters, the athmosphere...pick one.

Can't argue taste, though.

Well, more realistic that the comics, I feel. He does have superpowers, it's still that universe. But in the comics is seems to come much more easy...here, you know, he actually gets beat up. Frequently.

Did you blank out on the last part? "realistically be like to go out and get beat up by bad guys"

Which it was. He isn't magically healed nor does he come away from fights with out a wound. He is hurt and has to get medical attention. He even passes out from fights. That is realistic.

Meh. I didn't find it that special, and the writing was really ...really a crapshoot after the first few episodes.

But if the main reason you watch things is not for the writing, then you might really like it. I don't know your preferences, man.
