What is fandom "doing wrong" by your standards? Too much fluffy fic? Wrong top/bottom dynamic? Terrible headcanons? Not enough of your fave character?

If you could have it your way, what would fandom provide for you?

Any fandom that has ship wars or character bashing is doing it wrong in my mind. Let people enjoy what they like in peace.

Any fandom that's more into AUs and OOC-ness than it is into the source material.

This is my fandom. All AU garbage. The characters are barely recognizable. It absolutely sucks.

Hello, Helix fandom. Oh how I wish there was more for this fandom than 2 juggernaut pairings fluff (frequently OOC, especially in the case of the big f/f ship) and AU crack.

This is why I gave up on Supernatural fanfics even though I still ship Dean/Castiel. I stopped watching, but I still wanted to read fics. But it was all really crappy OOC AUs.

Pretty much all the juggernaut pairings are awful. Write my rarepairs! Make cute art for the characters that I like! I'll give you magic cookies.

I wish there was more discussion about the canon. You get a few things here and there but nothing that lasts. And if there is a discussion, it's ALWAYS the same few topics. There are tons of things to discuss but I feel like I've talked to death about the canon because no one goes out of their little bubble to chat beyond the top 5 topics. I'm bursting with things to say and I'd love to talk about it but I always get crickets when I try to start a conversation. No one's interested but me. :(

I've even had a few people react like I have 27 heads when I suggest that maybe we talk. "Oh... well, I don't really have anything to say." "Yeah we're not really that kind of group." But... but then what's the point?!

My fandom has a surprising amount of canon discussions. I'm always amused that complete crack and completely serious, interesting canon discussions can come from the same people.

Not enough Gen fic (there is never enough). Some fandoms have seemingly no gen fic.

They won't quit telling each other how they're doing fandom wrong, and let people the fuck alone about their pairings or what kind of fanfic they write.

Mind your own damn business and do you're own thing, fandom, because I'm not going to stop doing mine for you.

Sure I'd like to see more of my preferred ships. But I'm not bloody narcissistic and self absorbed enough to call it "doing fandom wrong".

I wish non-con and shota were less popular, and less sanctified. That's basically the only place where fandom and I are consistently at odds.

The MCU needs more Bruce Banner.

Fitz/Ward (from Agents of SHIELD) have way too many AU fics, which is understandable, given the canon, but I want canon stories for them. Especially post-HYDRA reveal. But most of it are 'Ward-was-actually-brainwashed'/'was-actually-a-double-double-agent' redemption fics. I like the idea of Ward redemption, but I want it painful and I want it slow-going. Shit, I don't even mind if it's gonna be unrequited or unhealthy, I just feel like Fitz/Ward post-HYDRA's terribly unexplored.

Some pairings getting used so fucking much for another endgame pairing's benefit that it's so hard to find fics of that pairing. Examples that I care about: Balthazar/Cas for Dean/Cas, Gwaine/Merlin for Arthur/Merlin.

Too many trans headcanons. Also, not enough good fic.

Less Sherlock crossovers ;__;

Transformers and the stupid "Gender Wars" that flare up. They technically don't have genders, or at least genders as we know them, shut UP about it! Same goes with races.

Metal Gear fanboys. Yes there are characters who aren't *gasp* straight! Get over it and quit whining about it.

All Fandoms. We need more Friendship/Gen/Non romantic fic. I can't supply it all myself now. Help me out here!

Attacking people for differing headcanons. I can deal with the ship wars (of the past anyway), but this idiotic bullshit that certain headcanons are a-ok and others are bad because it doesn’t fit the SJW topic du jour, just, get that shit away from me.

This is also related to the bullshit that means if you ship a problematic ship, you somehow advocate that shit. Uh no. Nice inability to differentiate between fiction and reality.
