130k or so. A bit high, but the thing is that cars made around that time and later aren't as dependent on mileage -- better materials, better construction, etc (not to mention they're obviously newer than some of the shitboxes my mom's friends kept finding. No, I don't want to look at a 1993 Shitvrolet with 200k on it, get the fuck outta my face.) We only had $5000 to spend, so I went with the best I could find. The Cobalt is supposedly kind of a junky car, generally a low-budget castoff, but I've yet to have any serious issue with mine.

It depends on how much money you're willing to spend. A very new car will obviously cost more to buy but less to maintain. An older car like mine, even if it's been well taken care of, will probably need regular maintenance.

I'd need to finance, so it's probably better to buy something a bit newer. I don't have enough to buy one, unless it's super cheap.

That is high though. I've heard you should go under 80k but I'm not too knowledgeable about cars. My dad did say it depends on the car.

Of course, you can never tell if a car will be good or not. My first junky car was awesome. The car I'm replacing was more expensive but I didn't like it much. My dad once bought a car for $100 and it lasted about two years.
