Yeah I mean... I was a lonely ass teenager as well though nowhere near their standards and I can still tell I'm kinda behind in social interactions - honestly it's a goddamn MiRaClE they're not more fucked up than they are. I mean Dirk and Roxy has literally never touched another human being in their entire lives. Holy shit how are they super competent and awesome and not flinging their shit at people.
Tumblr has definitely traumatized me too - read "not meant to imply" - and I don't even post or reblog shit I'm just kind of there, drunkenly nodding along as every semi-famous guy ever is suddenly a piece of shite. Dirk, abusive though... Honestly, it kind of scares me how the word abusive gets thrown around there, because it sort of... Loses it meaning. Never seen Dirk being called abusive but holy shit have they ever been in relationships? Dirk is manipulative but he isn't even manipulative for his own benefit he genuinely wants to help his friends jesus. I almost wish he was a worse person in canon than he is; Hussie has his way with balancing good and bad traits in people.
Yeah... To be honest, I have no idea how being aromantic even works. Asexual, I can get, but don't really understand the mechanics of being aromantic, mainly 'cause "romance" isn't an urge in the same sense as being sexual - like, I get what it means, but I can't imagine how it'd feel or work... bluh. Also, I had completely forgotten about his crush on Aranea.
Ah yeah thanks god for the internet. I still remember elementary school back when we actually went and looked shit up in physical encyclopedias (can't believe I spelled that right at first try). God.

They grew up as really broken kids. Like holy shit, Roxy ended up being an alcoholic because she wanted to feel closer to mom!Rose and Dirk ended up building Robots/his own evil clone so he wouldn't feel lonely and his first contact with a romantic partner ends in a drunk-on-candy party where they sadly broke up. My life as a teen was a walk in the park compared to them and I really end up feeling bad for them.
And oh yes. I've seen some shit there. There's this called 'good DirkJake squad' (okay I don't know if that's their name, but it really fits them) who go around telling people that the correct way to ship DirkJake is if Dirk is abusive and Jake is a giant woobie. Any other representation is WRONG and you are WRONG for shipping them that way. I wish I was even kidding but I've seen them go against artist who ended up deleting and people who have been in actual abusive relationships calling them out on it. Like, Jesus Christ untwist your panties. This is like going back to the livejournal days when Warriors for Innocence started their crusade and journals where being deleted left and right. Funny enough that was the time when people started moving to tumblr. Oh the irony.
And... well me neither. I mean, if someone identifies and feels that way that's cool, but it's not something I understand and that's okay. We're all different and yadda yadda.
