Exactly as I thought, then. Poor boy. ;_;

Yeah, poor Alfons had kind of a rough time of it...if Ed-the-crazy-roommate wasn't bad enough, his work starts killing him too -- and then the T.S. shows up to finish the job XD

His work killing him = one of the saddest things I've ever seen in a movie. As I said in the secret, it just endeared him to me, for some reason. And he just kept doing it because he had to leave something behind AFTER it killed him.

...

...I'm depressed now. ;_;

That's what endeared me to the character too -- how he kept plugging away at his little misguided dream, and then at the end, had the courage to even give it up. That's what made Hei stick for me -- the fact that when the cards were on the table, he decided to throw in his lot with Ed and entrust his dream (and the memory of his existence) to Ed, and ask for Ed to do the right thing for him. ;;-;;

EXACTLY. And that expression he made when he died was really sad to me, for some reason. I can't even really describe the emotion that was being expressed there.

I parsed it honestly, as shock that it was finally happening - and then perhaps just a hint of relief, because he had managed to realize his dream - albeit in a different manner and way than he had expected.

Yeah, there was a lot of that in there, along with this sense of him being put out of his misery, almost. Needless to say, it was a powerful little split second. :P

(Secret identity remains a secret here, just 'cause.)
