65. Well attempted suicide b/c you killed people(Roy) is much more logical than attempted suicide for attention. I have a realative that threatened suicide when his parents were mad at him.*Note: He would never actually do that. He just wanted them to not be upset* That kind of behavior just pisses me off. :(

I think that probably has something to do with it. Fictional characters are usually portrayed as having a valid reason for every major thing they do, just for the sake of the plot.

But real people do stupid, baseless things all the goddamn time. :P

... the OP has Reki of Haibane Renmei in the secret. As far as I know, Reki never killed people - she just has a lot of self-esteem problems, like most REAL LIFE suicidal people. You'd think Reki would inspire some compassion for real folks, huh?

Coming from someone who's been there -- what's needed in these situations is compassion and professional mental help. Sadly, not everyone is going to *want* help or realize they need it, but it falls upon the people (family and friends) who *supposedly* care about the person to try to encourage them to get some.

It really is hard to tell sometimes between those people who "threaten suicide for attention" and those who are seriously thinking of it. While I understand that the former "can be annoying" - all talk like that should be taken very seriously, just in case it isn't. Being suicidal isn't all about "wanting attention" - sometimes it is about genuine feelings of worthlessness and geniune mental illness.

That said, the OP's attitude makes me feel like throwing up. As much as I love fictional characters, having more of a heart for them than for REAL LIVE PEOPLE in one's life boggles me.

Agreed. Having been accused of attention-whoring when I had a real problem, I can assure you that people who automatically assume that anybody who is suicidal is actually doing it for attention are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Oh, I agree. If there's a real problem, that's much more serious than any cartoon character could possibly be. And if a friend ever told me something like that, I would listen and try to get them help.
