If I finally got fluent in japanese i'd definitely flaunt it! not cus i want attention or anything... but when to most people in the anime fandom, japanese is like a special skill! if i just...didnt say anything about it, i dont know, that attitude feels unnaproachable! if i were like "eh yeh, i can speak it" then it seems very... like people would feel like they can't ask me for japanese help or something because im so quiet about it. theyd think "oh dear, she doesnt really like to talk about it huh? she must be one of those stuck up people."

i dont know, im rambling. your attitude jsut seems... off. i dont think theyre proclaiming it to the world, its more like "yeah this is one of my skills" like saying "oh hay i can bake and speak japanese and my favorite color is purple!"

i dont know. people who dont talk about themselves wierd me out.

I feel the same way. I don't like those people who say NOTHING about themselves online. And it's getting more and more common. Just because it's the internet doesn't mean we're not human! We don't exist to be sniggering cat macro machines in the real world, so why STRIVE to have no identity online?

it's not even that! some people are open in a way, but i never get to hear about THEM in real life. I mean I'm shy too but isn't breaking out of your shell the whole point of internets? (so many people only want to talk about cartoons or blabber about pairings)

I guess it's just a different mindset... like thinking people wont care... but it makes me uncomfortable if apparently knowing their eye color is taboo!

And if you're any kind of sane person, you wouldn't want weeaboos to approach you or look up to you for your Japanese skillz. Ergo, you don't proclaim it.

Sane or not, I'm not the kind of snob who's time is so precious that I can't help someone out if they ask nicely. If someone wants to know what the moon runes on their weeaboo t-shirt say, I don't have the superiority complex where I feel I'm so much better than them that I'm actually going to be bothered by an honest question from someone who happens to be in a steriotype that annoys some people. I don't see the problem with people looking up to me. It's their business and it's not hurting me. What are you, some kind of recluse that can't stand a little POSITIVE attention, weather it's misguided or not? Sorry for ranting but you types really tick me off.

That's kind of sad really :\ I mean, ok, not liking attention is one thing, but what's wrong with people today that everyone has to be distant from everyone else and people feel like they can get snobby at people for asking for help? You must hate a lot of people then, because it's rare to see someone who scoffs at people with honest intentions. I try to like people, but people who think theyre kings/queens of the world and should never have to be "bothered" by others are really, well, stupid.

also, "my type of people"? you mean people who don't mind helping others and being tolerant? People who don't mind sharing things about themselves and like to be approachable? um... what?
