No one has said they are not entitled to their opinion. They absolutely are. Just their opinion is wrong. Very wrong indeed.

Uh, no. That's my point. Opinions on someone's writing style is subjective. By definition they can't be wrong. That's what is bugging me about the comments. People aren't just saying they disagree with the secret maker, they are saying they are objectively wrong. And that just isn't the way opinions work.

And that is your opinion, which is also wrong.

Except the OP's statement is wrong. It would be one thing for the OP to say "I didn't like the books, didn't see the appeal, and don't understand the hype." That is an opinion. People may or may not agree with the opinion. Saying that they are "shitty kids' books" is the wrong part, because it is making it a statement of fact. And given the critical acclaim and the love of lots of people for his books means that statement of fact is not correct. The OP is entitled to their opinion, but that is the part I take issue with.

Hmmm. That read as opinion to me. What is and isn't a good children's book is entirely subjective to me. But if they are saying they are objectively bad then yes, they are wrong.
