Re: Non-Villain Fictional Characters That You Hate

Turin from the Silmarillion. What I hate the most is that he never learns from his mistakes and the narrative still treats him as a hero (bordering on woobie).

Nell from NCIS LA. HATE HER!!! She absolutely perfect. She's the bestest computer expert ever. She's also able to use a gun, despite being a tech. And is immediately comfortable going undercover. Everyone wants her for their agencies. She really is a Mary Sue. And, she basically made my favorite character redundant. Worse, they made him interested in her while she seems like she could take or leave him.

Elena from Without a Trace. I actually quit watching this show (right after Martin was shot, a storyline I was REALLY invested in) because of her. I caught the last season and had to fast forward any time she was on screen.

Eric from CSI Miami. Self-righteous asshole. A lot like Turin in why I hate him. He's never called on his attitude. The narrative always treats him as if he was right. When he's wrong, he's never made to say he was sorry. And his relationship with Calleigh completely warped the writing of the show and both characters.

Tauriel. Maybe not hate to the level of the others on this list but I really hated what they did to her character. I hated that she commits treason and pulls a weapon on her king, but HE'S the bad guy. I hated how they never actually let her have a voice or a backstory (everything we learn about her is in promotional material). She feels like an insult to the fans.

I want to agree with you on Turin - he's a terrible character who does everything wrong and more importantly does stupid things at every turn.

I don't hate Tauriel, but I agree that she doesn't have any decent background and ends up pretty useless. It makes me happy to write a little side-plot in RP about arranging to ship her off to Himring to get her away from Kíli in a way that is outright mean either.
