I was told that unless I pay for my own wheelchair, it will take at least a year to go through the proper funding channels.
That is, if everything is accepted right away. My OT said they will probably try to deny my claim and offer me cheaper options, and I will have to go through an appeals process.

I think I've actually gone past feeling angry or sad and I just no longer feel like a person because nobody treats me like one anymore.

What the actual hell? That's awful. Not okay. I'm so sorry you are dealing with that.

Was it you that is waiting on surgery? I can't scroll up now I've hit reply. Either way. Health care needs to be less shitty. Why is something we all need at one time or another so fucking terrible and difficult to access?

I feel like this dog when people ask me how I'm doing right now.

Yup, that would be me. And yes, health care sucks.

That is a very accurate comic for me right now. For so many reasons. My mother keeps suggesting I read the Bible when I tell her I'm currently having a panic attack, so I told her it went away only to get her to stop. Because no, that isn't going to help me right now, thank you very much. Just go away. Argh. Sorry. It has just been one of those days.

Is it bad that I laughed a little bit? The bible has actual stories about people being attacked by bears, cannibalism, and killing babies. :s

SO SOOTHING.

I get you. I had one yesterday from yelling. I was mid-rant and I just ran out of air.
Um. Excuse me. I was not finished with that.
It's really annoying, actually. I get anxious whenever I express strong emotions, and I have a lot of emotions right now.

I hope you get your surgery sorted out soon!

Sometimes secondhand stores like the Salvation Army will have a wheelchair :)

I've done a bit of looking around for second-hand chairs but I haven't found any that would work for me. I have a folding chair already out on loan, which is the kind that is cheapest/most common. They're really designed more for pushing people around, not for independence.

Ideally, I want something I can operate without assistance and get in and out of a car easily.
