Or sci-fi, I guess. Inspired by anti-leather jacket anon. What are the coolest "fantasy" outfits? Whether modeled by an actual character or not.

I have mixed feelings about the show itself, but most outfits on Firefly are pretty awesome (Mal's suspenders! Zoe's leather vest! Kaylee's teddy bear pants! River's sweater/skirt/combat boot combo, let my lesbian heart live!). Also, if we're talking fantasy, surely it must be hobbit clothes. So comfy!

Agreed! The costumes were perfect. They were memorable without being over the top and fit the atmosphere perfectly.

I agree with both of these, also adding the LoTR outfits as really nice looking as well.

i hate that show but the costumes (and sets and all of that) were generally insanely good

I love the clothes in the LOTR movies. Just, yes please. And the Hobbit movies too really. I may have a lot of problems with them but I love the costumes. I just love the medieval look. Elaborate dresses with amazing sleeves and corsets and robes and boots. Give me it all.

I am so into LOTR costumes, and any "elf inspired" original fantasy outfits. Beautiful, elegant elf costumes forever.

Yes! And the male elves get costumes just as pretty as the women. I'm way into men in elaborate robes.

Pretty much everything worn by Padme in the Star Wars prequels. Eiko Ishioka's designs for everything. Ditto Colleen Atwood's. And the show may have gone to shit, but I still want OUAT Rumpelstiltskin's season 1 leather coat and snakeskin boots.

Also I can't believe we never got to see Galadriel in this because hot damn.

Xena had a bunch of good outfits. So did Callisto, and I loved Gabby's outfits in the later seasons.

Then of course we have Princess Leia's classic slave girl outfit.

Oh, Ariel's pink, poofy ball gown? I wanted that gown when I was little. I still want that gown. In every color.

The kids in the Narnia movies had some pretty dresses too.

Mad Max: Fury Road. Not sure if that counts for sci-fi or fantasy, but it counts for awesomeness plus practicality.

For fantasy, all the charcters in the story in The Fall.

I fucking love those costumes. I've helped people brain out how the main character's jacket and pants work, so I know none of them are easy to replicate. And they just fit the movie so well.

And they fit each character so well! Love them.

Eiko Ishioka was such an awesome designer. I love the costumes for Bram Stoker's Dracula, too.

Everything Dynasty Warriors. Except 6. 6 is just...man, there's some weird shit in that game. But 7 and 8 have some gorgeous outfits. Dyework, embroidery, amazing embossed metal armors...

I love the costuming on Galavant, the outfits are so pretty.

I sill have a soft spot for Ryoko's outfits, and I wish I could pull them off. Maybe not the bikini ones, but the kimono ones.

All of Chi's outfits in Chobits. So impractical, so lovely.

I really like the outfits in the newer Narnia movies, like Lucy's Dawn Treader outfit, with the sideways ponytail, and the pirate shirt. It just looks so comfortable, you know? But I also really love their fancy dresses. I wish that I could pull them off, and had the excuse to wear them!

Allegretto from Eternal Sonata gets a pretty cool looking extra costume on the PS3 version. Jazz from the same game looks pretty cool as well.

I'm a fan of Star Wars costume design.

I'm not gonna lie, I really love the Tunnel Snakes outfit from Fallout 3. It's a cool play on the traditional vault suit model.
