A character being straight isn't offensive. And I don't think the fact that he played the character assuming he was straight is offensive either. But it rather seems that we have no idea if Finn is straight, or bi, or anything, just that he has a crush on Rey, so why assume or close doors? I seriously doubt Finn will ever get a boyfriend or be portrayed as bi, but I hate automatically assigning straight defaults to characters. That includes from the actors' end, too.

Ok, so he has a crush on a female character, the actor playing him says he's straight, but we have no idea if this character in a mainstream Hollywood film that will bring big money in from such countries as Russia and China is straight or not. Got it.

The actor didn't say anything negative, the OP is just messin' with us. Or is butthurt 'cause: 'WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, they didn't give me what I wanted!' It's adorable either way.

Okay, so you're guilty of straight-by-default character interpretation as well, yay you.

The majority is straight. There's nothing wrong with defaulting to it as long as you live and let live on headcanon and don't ignore facts just to keep your default.

The majority of people generally being straight does not really have anything to do with the fact that there's always a fair chance that anyone could be not-straight. No one's sexuality is canon until it's canon.

That...doesn't disagree with anything I said?

'Guilty' lol.

It's cute how you cling to victimhood. Stay mad.

If everyonewas so concerned about the Russian amd Chinese markets wwe'd never have gay content at all, and we know that isn't the case.

And I'm pretty sure that movies like 'Carol' which feature heavy lgbt content, aren't getting huge releases in those and other very conservative countries. Disney WANTS a big release in those countries and had perfectly measured the content of that movie accordingly.

Actually, many big companies and care a great deal about what China thinks. They are a huge market. They'll change things just to appeal to that demographic, don't be ignorant.
