Anthropomorphic animal movies

(Anonymous) 2016-02-17 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
The trailer for Sing just dropped. I don't like singing competitions but I just can't stop replaying it.

Zootopia is on my most-anticipated list for this year, and Penguins was one of a fave from last year.

I used to be annoyed with anthropomorphizing animals in kids movies as I like human characters (I wanted to see human Robin Hood from Disney, though I enjoyed the film) but I've found a lot of them really charming now.

So, let's discuss. What are your favorites? What do you like about them? Favorite character? Favorite animal to be anthropomorphized? Anything you haven't seen done yet that you'd like to see?

My favorites are Rango and Fantastic Mr. Fox for animals that act like (and walk like) humans. The Lion King is sort of anthropomorphized but not enough for me to count it.

I've always liked them because I like animals and I like good movies. I don't really have a favorite character because I love ensembles. Nor do I have a favorite animal, I just love them all!

Interesting! I haven't watched either of those (I saw maybe 10 minutes of Rango while channel-flipping).

I really like the worldbuilding that they're promising in Zootopia (and maybe Sing). Where you have really huge animals and really tiny ones living in the same city and how do you cater to them all. But those are for the movies that are taking themselves seriously. As I said, I really liked Penguins, which doesn't take itself seriously. They're just spoofs and I adore them. :)

Oh man, Fantastic Mr. Fox is amazing. The visuals were so stunning. Definitely Wes Anderson as hell, but I'm a big fan of his work so it worked for me, haha.
