Holy crap! I totally call my smut scenes 'IKEA assembly instructions'! Cracks me up every time.

I read a lot more smut than I write; I fade to black unless the sex itself is relevant to the plot, because, well, IKEA assembly instructions. I also find myself losing track of limbs and having to count to make sure the characters haven't become arachnids or something when I wasn't looking.

Yes! I'd much rather read it than write it. I spend the whole time going 'wait who was laying which way and where did your arm go?'

But... aren't IKEA assembly instructions mostly pictures? (Is this different in other countries, I wonder?)

They are! The idea is that there is just, JUST enough detail for the reader to fill in teh blanks, with no 'fleshing out'. The ultimate in unsexy.
