Obviously I'm not talking about every single anime from the 80's and 90's. And while it's true that there are some superb anime made nowadays, these are standalone gems in an industry filled with subpar crap.

It's not all that obvious, but ok.

You could switch the decades and say the exact same thing. "While it's true that there were some superb anime made in the 80's and 90's, these were standalone gems in an industry filled with subpar crap." Which is pretty much what you said in your first sentence.

No shit Sherlock. There is more crap because there are more shows being produced, like 6 times more.

Because back in the 80's and 90's most anime were masterpieces, amirite?

Most shows were mediocre or bad with 1 or 2 truly great anime per year, just like now.
