21. Yeah, uh, that's not really surprising. Mary Sues are pretty natural extensions of normal childhood fantasies, especially girls. We don't dislike Mary Sues because they are inherently so omgevil; we dislike them because childhood fantasy indulgences don't make good shared fiction.

Actually, this was more of a feminist secret. Those assholes in the secret just happen to be advocating (and enforcing) the complete subjugation of women. When I hear about the way that women can be executed for being raped, and that these men are violently in favor of such policies, it makes me want to beat them up. But I am weak and cowardly, so, in my fantasy world, I send my strong female protagonists to do it for me in the name of all oppressed women everywhere. I know it's silly, but it makes me feel better for a little while.

True, and I thought it was a pretty sweet secret otherwise. :) Just in conjunction with the "end of fandom" secret from the last post, it made me go a little O_o.
