And like most things, we can't make everyone happy. Some people dislike our translation choices.
That's fine, to each their own.
But lately... when I peek into the fandom on tumblr, all I see is nonstop insults of our work and blind praising of other groups. Sometimes it hurts, because I know how much effort, time, and money we've put into sharing this genre with everyone.
I just want to enjoy my surprisingly deep shows and films.
I just want to discuss plot developments and fawn over actors/actresses/sexy suits.
With everyone.
We're on the same side. Why do we have to fight?

But for some reason people think it's fine to act like rude shits about the quality of translations, subs, or scans.

While I admit that I prefer certain fansub groups and methods over others, I don't think it's right to go around bashing anyone like that. Something you dislike about a fansub might be something someone else likes for perfectly valid reasons. I can't begrudge someone for that.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 12:42 am (UTC)(link)if the wording is awkward, then it's their fault. if it's good, then the author gets credited instead.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 01:07 am (UTC)(link)Random sites are bad enough.
I know everyone has their own idea of the "perfect" translation, whether it be localized or "so much Japanese still in, it's not even really a translation". Sometimes the complaints are legitimate, and I always take those onboard, but sometimes the criticisms can be so silly (like "OMG how DARE you translate "Konnichiwa" as "Hello" instead of "Good afternoon"!!!1!!!").
I'm so sorry the leechers are making you sad, OP. I may not be a tokusatsu fan, but please keep fighting the good fight. *offers hugs/fistbump of solidarity if wanted*

You're much better off not looking for trouble. Just stick to your own forums, and boot off the assholes who are ignorant that look for trouble on your turf. For fandom, I recommend you avoid anything except individual sites which focus on a particular thing - be it fanfics or fanart posted by the original creator. Reason being is they're highly unlikely to go into that sort of stuff about fansub quibbles there, but you can still get your dose of fandom.
Above all, just be prepared for when everything falls out in the group internally. You'll have enough to worry about then, so no need to go seeking it externally.
Good luck. ♥

So, uh, TV-Nihon I'm guessing? Because... they kinda do deserve the criticism. As a subber myself, also for toku stuff, I can confidently say that 90% of the shit TV-N gets is because their mistakes go way beyond stylistic choices and into just plain translating lots of stuff wrong.
