Re: Why would anyone not a racist, classist xenophobe vote for Donald Trump?
(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 12:37 am (UTC)(link)As for the businessman thing, so...how do people who believe that explain away the bankruptcy stuff with him? .
Re: Why would anyone not a racist, classist xenophobe vote for Donald Trump?
(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 01:39 am (UTC)(link)I don't think Trump is trolling, he has been flirting with the idea of running for president since 1988. I think he almost ran for the Reform Party in 2000/2004? Apparently his books are basically ads about why America is awful now and needs a strong leader with a good business sense who won't back down (i.e. him), with his last one being the most blatant one. I haven't read the books myself but some ideas he's spouting now (especially about illegal immigrants) can apparently be found in the first two as well, though his rhetoric wasn't quite as vitriolic as it is now.
Re: Why would anyone not a racist, classist xenophobe vote for Donald Trump?
(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 01:56 am (UTC)(link)I don't think he is, either-I didn't know that about his books and whatnot, but that certainly lends credence to the idea that he's actually serious about this.
But some people seem to think he doesn't believe any of the stuff he's saying. Even if he didn't, though, like I noted above, the fact he'd still be stirring up people who DO genuinely believe that stuff doesn't exactly help matters.
