There might be some truth to that. On the other hand, he's been widely embraced by the Republican base, and I think at a certain point you have to ask: what is the Republican Party? Is it the grandees and the pundits who get published in tony magazines? Or is it the people who actually vote and have beliefs and opinions and support or reject the actual candidates? I think the latter are more important. And, again, those people are the ones who have embraced Trump, and what he stands for and what he says - not only embraced him, but decided that he's far more important than the traditional leaders of the party. Those are the people who have been the Republican Party while believing these things, and they are the people who are still the Republican Party. The Trump people and the Cruz people.

But whatever you think of that argument, there's also certainly an element of truth in the idea that I'm just fucking with Iceyred
