D&D has redeemed themselves.
Due to reading an old fic (Drizzt/Artemis Entreri porn, which has in turn prompted me to look up longer plottier fic), I ended up going and poking around the Forgotten Realms wiki and have found out that several of the gods I resented them for removing have been restored.
My irritation at them has now mostly calmed (there's still a few things I can nitpick, like Kiaransalee, or that the Seven Sisters were killed off, or that, unless they have reversed the classification, the name of my favourite type of Celestial now belongs to a breed of Elf).
On the other hand, both Eilistraee and Vhaeraun are back, so the drow pantheon is no longer so one-note.
