I'm going to second the nonny that said campaign finance reform. Fixing the political system to get big money out of politics is vital to all other issues; at the moment, it doesn't matter what the people want--it matters what the people/companies with the biggest bank accounts want.

And their interests are often detrimental to both the environment and the well-being of the masses.

Getting big money out of politics would work toward solving a lot of other problems.
