What do you all think of the whole Kesha thing.

I don't understand why a different producer is a problem. That's what throws the whole thing off for me.

I completely get Kesha wanting to not be around Dr Luke. I completely get Sony wanting to keep the contract. I completely get Kesha taking it all the way to court to get the contract nulled.

I don't get why "I won't be promoted as heavily and won't make as much money" is suddenly a factor when an alternative producer option is introduced. Isn't getting away from the guy worth it? Is there something I'm missing?

Yeah. I don't get it either. Sony gave her a great choice. And...she refused it because she is afraid they won't promote her work. As opposed to all the work of hers that is getting promoted now??

For the record I don't think she's lying or anything, I simply don't understand why the other producer choice was declined. No more Dr Luke? Problem solved? It's not like she isn't a star in her own right.

I've only been half following the case but I got the impression that "not as heavily promoted and won't make as much money" is code for "Sony will be petty enough to straight up sabotage her career for daring to challenge them", which from what I know about record labels, is believable.

I'm not super heavily invested in this though, so idk.

Because she's a big money-maker for Sony and they probably will try and sabotage to keep her where she is.
