Makin' a cake for my mother's birthday, going out for mom's birthday dinner. Hopefully seeing Hail Caesar! but who knows at this point.

Her birthday was last week, but my sister wasn't able to come down to celebrate it (it was a week day) and then she and I were out of town last weekend. And there was no point making a cake when there were only 3 of us, and we still had 3/4 a pan of Super Bowl brownies left.

I also have a giant canker sore and it suuuuuucks.

Because I have half an open package of the powdered milk left from that insane lemon cake I made for my birthday, I'm gonna make a variation on that base cake but orange. And I'm not making a mousse filling because that shit's too much damn work. I might make a syrup with orange liqueur if we still have some.

They were rocky road brownies! Basic brownies with chocolate chips, bake that. Then topped with 2 cups mini marshmallows, 1 additional cup choc chips, 1 cup chopped nuts. Then pop it back in the oven with the residual heat for 1-3 minutes for the marshmallows and chips to soften. Cool and serve. nom nom.
