Then the transphobia that happens is really, really not representative of how trans people are treated in Japan. It's a combination of bad research and just not caring about it beyond a few bullet points of the trans experience.

Ugh, yes. I mean, I would prefer my fic without any sort of *-phobia because Haikyuu!! is just such a positive feel-good series and that's what I love most about it, but even setting aside that, some fics are so painfully American, for lack of a better word. Sometimes I just want to tell writers that Japanese high school =/= American high school. Never mind when 16 year old boys sound like Queer Studies 101 textbooks.

What Hinata FtM story did you like? Do you have a link? I'm really hurting for a decent trans fic in the Haikyuu!! fandom. :(

Of course! It's Kageyama/Hinata pre-slash, in case that's not your jam. As I'm not trans myself I can't speak for it's accuracy, though, but it's neither preachy nor OTT angsty, which is all I ask for. (If you ever do find a trans!Kageyama fic, do let me know!)

They've both got some stereotypical masculine attitudes and I could see Tanaka being nervous to disclose to Taketora because he hasn't clued in to how much of a dork Taketora really is he's just like Tanaka after all, but Taketora doesn't give a shit because that's just him.

YESSSSS, that would be amazing. Someone does need to write that. Taketora would be the dorkiest and best of all boyfriends, why isn't fandom all over that. Don't be sorry, it's an excellent ship!

Have you been living under a fandom rock!? D: Finding top!Suga fic for DaiSuga is like a 'mark the day on the calendar, we may never see it again!' type moment! It drives me nuts. Fandom took Suga as "team mom" way too seriously. >.<;;

Haha, though I love them both I have no interest in them as a pairing. I know that it's a fairly popular pairing, but nothing beyond that, lol. But why would Daichi be the designated top? Daichi might be the one to keep the team together and keep them in line, but Suga is the one who keeps Daichi together and keeps him in line. Like when Daichi was trying to do a noble sacrifice and stop playing after the Inter High and Suga called him on his bullshit. Oh fandom, I sometimes just don't get you.
