Thirding this. Thirty years ago I met someone I admired greatly, and he was very supportive and encouraged me in the work I was doing. He passed away recently, and I decided to write to his family to describe the impact his kindness had and my gratitude for that; even if it was three decades ago, it had meant so much. His daughter wrote back to thank me for sharing the story, and CC'ed her message to her family so she could share it with them in turn.

It really is worth doing, and it could well bring a little comfort to Bowie's family, so why not?
