Some ground rules:

I'm a few episodes behind but I've been watching from the beginning. I'm sort of on the fence about this being the last season. I just hope the show runners know so they can do something satisfying. I just want some kind of a happy ending (even if it means our main team dies in the final episode but doing so to defeat Samaritan).

I haven't been totally on board with the way the show has changed and made things more and more difficult for Team Machine, but I do like that the show didn't stay the safe course and kept pushing things. I just want the team to catch a break though! I definitely ship Finch/Reese (Shaw/Root to a lesser degree).

I really hope this isn't the last season. Even though I know it most likely will be. They seem to be planning for the Season 5 finale to work as a series finale if need be, so that is something at least.

I agree about the direction of the show. I rewatched from the start recently, and I was reminded about how much I really liked the early episodes, but I do appreciate that they evolved the show instead of remaining stagnant like so many other shows. I also love that they have complex characters. No one is perfect, and that is a good thing!

I agree wholeheartedly about the characters! One of the things I really appreciated about this show was that the villains were complicated, believable, and real threats. They never got handed the idiot-ball like you see with so many other shows. They're actually removed from the board when the show no longer needs them (and sometimes even before that!). A show is only as strong as the villains and POI has some great ones.

And the heroes are awesome too. The show is great for characters.

Yes! And you could see where the villains were coming from. In their minds they are completely justified, and it's easy to see why they feel that way. Northern Lights likely did stop a lot of terrorist attacks and save lives, but at what cost? Same with Samaritan. And Elias was obviously a criminal, but he also did make the streets safer. Even Vigilance. Their methods weren't good, but they had a point with what they were fighting for. And at one time or another all of the villains "won".

They all have flaws. And sometimes these flaws negatively impact their results. And I love that. They are awesome. I don't always want perfect when I can have interesting and complex.

I understand why this show isn't for everyone. I just wish more people had watched it so that it could tell more of the story that it clearly has to tell. I will miss it when I no longer have these characters to watch.
