F!S Anon Meme (the ??th!)

Secrets, rants, opinions, anything you want to say about your fandom or a fandom or fandom in general, do it here! Anonymously, of course. Get it all off your chest.

Some ground rules:
1. Going anon is encouraged but not absolutely required (for those who struggle with captchas and stuff).
2. No autoplaying/autolooping embeds, or embeds that cover/stretch the screen.
3. No dropping personal info or IRL contact info, etc.

That's about it, though!

I'll be linking some general/general-fandom threads I see so people don't repost new threads with the same stuff. If you want me to link your thread up here, drop a link in the first comment!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Some starters (feel free to ignore)...

- Am I the only one who wants to meet Amy's family?

- Am I the only one who keeps seeing comparisons between Gina and April from Parks and Rec, but thinks Rosa's way more like April? Gina actually reminds me more of Kelly Kapoor from The Office, except Kelly was supposed to be annoying.

- I love how they're handling Amy and Jake. At first it felt like they were trying too hard not to make it the Amy and Jake show, but they've finally struck the balance.

I'd love to meet Amy's family, I don't know what I'd want from them but I know I want to see them.

I wasn't the biggest Amy/Jake fan but I didn't mind it either and I agree, they were oddly holding back with it I think out of the fear of making it seem like the show was being taken over by it and instead that just made it seem not important, but now they've been showing it more while still keeping a good balance with the other characters and honestly it's really grown on me. I think they're cute and I enjoy watching them work things out, I just really hope they don't fall into the usual stupid contrived dramas with them because it's been blissfully free of that so far.

Also you've reminded me that I need to catch up on some backlogged episodes.

AYRT - I did wonder about the match (I liked both characters, but even for "opposites attract" couples I just didn't see it), but you're absolutely right, they work very well together.

I hope they don't fall into any dramas either! I thought the one episode - was it the first or second in the season - did it perfectly, where they had a mini crisis but resolved it by the end. On some shows, that would've taken an entire season, maybe several seasons.

I think they've done a good job of showing that they work well together and that's something that's important for me to buy a romantic couple on-screen.

Yeah they've had them be fairly mature about their relationship so far, I just really hope they keep it up because it's really refreshing to see a romantic pair actually talk and communicate with each other rather than just let it fall into stupid misunderstandings. Though I think in general this show avoids that trope? At least not for longer than an episode.

Yeah, the show either avoids them or the stupid misunderstanding is cleared up right away. Which is good.

No, you're not the only one. I'd like to meet Amy's family in future episodes too, hopefully in the next season.

Well, both co-creators of B99 worked on Parks and Rec. Plus, Mike Schur worked on the Office. Hence, the comparisons and parallels are quite strong. I agree that Rosa and April share similar personality traits: sarcastic yet kind underneath the aloof exterior.

I see Gina as a mix of Tom and Donna, Jake as Andy, and Amy as a mix of Ann and Leslie.

Same here! The writers working on the show have done a good job, although the pacing is a bit faster than its predecessors.

AYRT - I think those are good comparisons! Jake's basically Andy if he'd been a little less flanderdized, and allowed to be a cop. (I can totally see Jake being into the Burt Macklin thing!) You're also right that Amy is a combination of Leslie and Ann - Leslie's perfectionism, Ann's awkwardness.

Yes, I know they are the same writers - I always figured the parallels were intentional, and yet also different takes on those sorts of characters.
