Oh man, I would have loved to have dolls like these as a kid. Maybe if they looked more like this my sister and I might have played with them more.

...on second thought, nah beanie babies are just too cuddly.

Are these Barbie dolls? They're so cute! I love that they're even of different height. I would have loved that petite one as a kid.

That is the exact first thought I had seeing them, and I got so excited about it even though I don't have the money to do custom dolls, and really sucked at it every time I tried.

But then you don't have all the articulation :/

If these sell well, I'm sure they'll make articulated ones later one. They probably don't want to put in the extra expense when they want to be sure the new body types are going to sell first.

True. Just that...when you're used to the Monster High dolls and how colorful and the like they are and how well they sold with their articulation, these look a tad bit underwhelming. Great for diversity, but not that much to pose or play with. But then again, that just my opinion. Kids may or may not be as invested in that. Idk.

I'm excited because now I can buy curvy fit clothes for my Hot Toys Black Widow.

I didn't think about the applications towards doll customistation but that is a good point, though the lack of articulated joints is a shame but maybe they'll do some of those in the new range if these sell well enough?

Though even without that I just like the fact that kids will have a lot of variety to pick from with these Barbies.

Hey, that's a valid reason to be excited.

I mean, I know nothing about doll customization, but I've seen some lovely fandom dolls and if that's your passion then it's good you'll have more to work with.

...And frankly, I find these dolls really cute and stylish. (The last two on the left...would totally wear those outfits. Give me your life size outfits, Barbies!)

Basically came here to say this; I love all the outfits but especially the second-to-left one. I'd wear that dress.

I'm loving Barbies new style. Not that I've paid much attention to Barbie in recent years, but I'm a fan of the direction they seem to be heading.

...And now I really want to find outfits like these.

I'd love to get into customizing character dolls but it's not a cheap hobby and I'm not that crafty, tbh. :(

(Anonymous) 2016-02-21 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wow, I hadn't thought of that! (I don't customize dolls tho either lol.)

(Anonymous) 2016-02-21 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That was my first thought when I saw these too! I'm turned off by the lack of articulation though. I hope above anon is right that they'll make articulated versions if these sell.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-21 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I envy people who have the money to get into those customized ball jointed dolls from Japan. Some of them are just gorgeous but the cost of even a basic doll with no custom facepaint hurts my wallet. :(

I was so happy about these and if they do well, I hope we get more diverse Ken dolls down the line

Can someone clarify for me as to whether clothing from petite/tall Barbie still fits on the basic Barbie body overall? Like sleeves/pants are too short/long, but the torso and waist still fit sufficiently? What about curvy Barbie's clothes on basic Barbie, and can curvy wear basic Barbie's clothes?

As a child, interchangeability of items was the one thing really Barbie had going for it. Relegating "expanded body type" dolls to ALWAYS wearing ONLY clothes for that specific type would suck. You know stores will stock less of curvy Barbie's clothes packs.

True. I just want them to be more articulated. :C
