I don't know her personally. I think she's enjoyably funny and witty, and that's all I feel qualified to really demand of a public figure and entertainer like her.

I like her. She handles herself well and has a lot of poise and yes, wit, imo. Wit is not just about cracking one liners, she handles herself well on panel shows and can hold her own.

I think she's less witty than her husband is. David Mitchell is one of the most popular panel show guests because he's exceptionally good at off the cuff remarks. His reputation might be rubbing off on her, a bit.

She's one of my favorite guests on quiz shows and things like that, but she's no Sue Perkins.

I've had a similar feeling--my instinct is to assume she's very smart, but that's clearly the Persona she's created through a lot of cues that don't have anything to do with intelligence. That said, she does seems quite intelligent; just because she's reading from a teleprompter in TV appearances doesn't mean she isn't bright in her own right. Stephen Fry reads from a teleprompter!

To be fair, Stephen Fry also finds himself in situations where there's no teleprompter and he still manages to hold his own. Occasionally he puts his foot in his mouth, but that's an issue of judgement, not lack of intelligence.

This is a pet peeve of mine... when it comes to getting guests, panel shows often hire comedians for the majority of their male guests, but for the female guests they don't hire female comedians, they hire presenters, pop stars or actors. Why? Because female presenters are usually conventionally attractive. So audiences who watch panel shows see a discrepancy between how funny the men are vs. how funny the women are and it perpetuates the "female comedians aren't funny" stereotype. It's a completely unfair comparison, because it involves men whose job it is to be funny vs. women whose job it is to be pretty and read things off a cue card.

Victoria Coren is a good presenter and not without wit, but she's still not a comedian. She gets these gigs because she's pretty good for a presenter, but I'd bet good money that her personal appearance factors heavily into it as well.

She and her brother are both deeply annoying.

Giles is wittier, but also more irritating and abrasive. When he can tone the asshattery down, I find him weirdly attractive.

I don't mind Victoria, but her brother is a bell-end.

Intelligent and talented woman on TV not intelligent enough for you. Got it.
