Agreed, it's like the call to republish Huck Finn w/o the n-word

Worse, even, because by editing the The Secret Garden the way OP wants, you wouldn't just be doing a find and replace of a single word, you'd be eliminating the occurrences of racism completely. It'd be more like rewriting Huckleberry Finn so that Jim isn't a slave, and that black people weren't oppressed because that might offend modern sensibilities.
