Re: Favorite Stores in the Mall

(Anonymous) 2016-02-22 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I have happy memories of Willow Grove Park, the mall of my childhood, with a Bloomingdale's, two good bookstores, a Crabtree and Evelyn shop, and a Woolworths, but where I live now, our local mall is pretty sparse. The bookstore is gone, Woolworth's is long gone, and Sam Goody is as well--do they even exist anymore? There used to be a Lane Bryant, also gone, and a store called C J Banks that carried clothes in women's sizes. Unfortunately, while the store is still there, it's been folded together with its sister store Christopher and Banks, which means that only about 1/3 of the store is devoted to women's sizes, and the selection has really gone to pot. OTOH, there's now a Dress Barn, which I love; almost every time I've been in there, I find something I really like.

Really, if I want to have fun browsing in shops, I go downtown, where after poking into various antique stores and bookstores, I can stop at a cafe, or at Stam's Chocolaterie for a gelato with espresso poured over top.
