32: Troll harder, bb.

51: It's more because the game 1) wasn't originally for the Nintendo and 2) doesn't have the insane global following required to make Nintendo consider them enough of a cashcow to ignore their own ruling on Super Smash Brothers lineups. And, well, it's a Japanese game.

53: Um. They ARE about overcoming oppression and orthodoxy. Hence them also being anti-religious.

59: How exactly?

I just want Capcom to have a damn representative in Super Smash Bros Ruckus.

I know I would love to have some Megaman in there. Still, I think they avoid Capcom characters because they have their own fighting franchises.

It seems that saying gorram or shiny every so often makes us all whackjobs. :B

Of course! I see it now. (No more cunning hat, then? I don't want to go back to the white room...)

[I think the Firefly fandom is pretty spectacular, and almost drama-free. It's not very extreme, and it works for both the good of the common fan and the good of the common man, as we say - our local Browncoat chapter does charity work along with our marathons and letter campaigns, you know?]

The cunning hat is probably the worst of all! I mean, who would EVER get a hat they saw on a tv show?

Sounds awesome.
I really need to find (or make :D) myself some more browncoats around here, but then, Firefly is very unknown around here. :/ Oh Europes.

#53 OP

So...attacking a neutral concept that has inspired both atrocities and wonders somehow equates to a message of overcoming oppression and orthodoxy?

Learn to differentiate between failure states of religion (e.g. fundamentalist Christianity, "Islamofascism" lol) and the many people who are content to go about their daily lives quietly believing in some higher power or powers. :/

I think Pullman does differentiate, and that's what I like about his books. I'm not religious, because I hate the way religion is used to control and intimidate, but I love the great art (of all kinds) that has come from religion, and find the myths fascinating. Pullman's world is full of these wonders and intellectual curiosity, beauty, self-sacrifice and kindness. He's not saying religious people don't have these qualities (though many people say atheists *cannot* have these qualities) or that their religious feeling is evil. It's what they do with that religious feeling, the use of religion as undemocratic and tyrannical rulership, and the belief that only their religion is right that Pullman attacks, and rightly so.

I have a lot of respect for people who are inspired by faith to do great (or humble and kind) things. I don't think religion is the only way to do this.

Yes, this. Well said. That's just what I was getting at.

32. Riiiight. Because everyone who doesn't approve of incest HAS to be a troll. Couldn't just be someone SANE.

Someone who calls people fucked up for liking something fictional with no explanation sounds like a troll to me. And I haven't seen the OP commenting in response to engage in conversation, either.

If someone likes incest in fiction, that doesn't mean they approve of incest. I read and write rape fiction. I most certainly don't support rape, as a survivor and volunteer. I can tell the difference between fantasy and reality. If you or the OP can't, I suggest leaving fiction alone and moving on to easier things.
