I agree. But I still don't think that isolated event shows him as 'feeling sorry for himself' 100% of the time. Although that certainly has more evidence than OMG EMO, and I respect your opinion. Because it's based off of your interpretation of canon, and not an outright disregard of canon.

I think it also depends on your definition of "emo", as clearly some people are defining "emo" pretty narrowly-- dude, where's my black eyeliner-- and I'm more equating it with self-centered whininess. (I should be more charitable, but Sasuke just irritates me.)

I still contest that he is not 'whiny'. He has had one or two whiny moments, to be sure, but he's far too laconic and introverted for me to see how he can be called 'whiny' across the board. Self-centered? That I can definitely agree with.

I'm not particularly fond of him myself, to be honest. I just find the way some people perceive him in fandom to be simple-minded.
