32. I don't like to bash people for having a weird fetish or paraphilia, since, well, I have one (not a rape fetish, but I don't like telling people what). Are they healthy? No, psychologically speaking, most of them aren't. But I have to hope that a lot of the reason that fandom is okay with rape fetishes is because, well, most of us don't want to tell another person that their fetish makes them a terrible person deep inside and that they must immediately seek counseling that they might not have money or time for. Seeing as there are some of us with fetishes ourselves, I assume that on the most part, fandom realizes that sexual attraction to and arousal from a strange, and sometimes unpleasant thing isn't something a person usually chooses to have.

But yeah. I think if a person doesn't realize that there's something at least abnormal (and slightly wrong, according to psychology) about their fetish, then they should probably be told gently. But most of us do live in the real world, and we do know that these things are often considered sick, and a sign that we're bad, immoral people. Fandom is the last place we need to hear it, if you ask me. But maybe I'm just internalizing this issue too much.


42. In a rational, thoughtful way, I find power fascinating. (Had to make sure I didn't phrase that otherwise, given my above secret-reply, or I'd get people trying to connect the dots =/) And suddenly everyone understands my screenname, I'm sure. xD I find myself really drawn to characters who have, gain, or covet power - it's just a really cool dynamic. Maybe it says something bad about you, but it might just be a fascination with something a little weird. As long as you're not eating brains or something, I don't think you need to worry about megalomania, at least. =Db


65. I identified with her too. xD I always just assumed people hated her because she got in the way of their precious twu wuv DaiKen, though, so once I realized that, the character bashing didn't bother me so much. It just seemed kind of sad.

No matter what the cause is or isn't, I understand that there can be a darkside to our nature. Darkside meaning the taboo and the socially forbidden. It's only human to sympathize and understand that we are usually not alone concerning these things. I think it's alright to internalize this issue as much as you want because that's exactly I do as well. I don't explore the 'sins' of humanity in writing so that I can encourage others to act on them, but I'd like to make myself more knowledgeable about them to arrive at an internal truth about myself and those around me.
