I love how defensive some of you get about this. Like wow, it's funny. "omg! someone doesn't like rape/incest, verbally abuse them so they'll see how sane and not fucked up we are!" lol Admit your fantasy's fucked up and move on.

I love how some people are so hellbent on making other people believe they're more fucked up than they actually are.

Just like Mr. or Mrs. 32 wants people to agree with him/her, the people on the other side of that opinion need to know that not everybody does.

I have to wonder why, if all the rapecest fans are so laid back and accepting, almost all the comments saying it's gross are anon. Seriously? Doesn't that seem kind of fucked up? A lot of the rapecest supporters have been all fire and brimstone and wanting to fuck people up over this, like they're being persecuted for liking something that just about anyone knows is morally, legally, and naturally wrong. That's the kink, right? That's why it's hot. If it was normal, it'd be too vanilla for most of them and they'd have to have fantasies about something else. So they know it's screwed up, but they get pissed off when someone else says it is and get out the flame throwers, but if they'd just admit it's fucked up, but they like the fantasy anyway, then there'd be no need for all the damn wank. Stop pretending it's normal, because we all know it's not. Accept it, live with it, cop to it, don't have to change it, but stop pretending people who don't like it are just morons who don't understand "real love" or whatever.

Although if you're curious- I'm anon here because you are. I have no interest in you past that initial comment you made which you... seem to have skewed into a tangent.

Nah, you're cool. I get annoyed when I see so many people get all self-righteous because someone doesn't like their kink and go off on them. And I'm only anon because I don't want to deal with the crap I'd get if I wasn't. People take this crap too seriously, and I'm probably no better, but it's nice to see not everyone's a total douche about it.

Some of these people got super pissed and super defensive, that's all I'm saying.

And yeah, there is rape and incest, but it's not shown with an okey-dokie, 'to each their own' attitude. Never saw GwtW, but Oedipus poked his own eyes out and wandered the country in self-exile, and his wife/mother killed herself once they found out they were related. And this is from a culture that thought it was a-okay for middle aged guys to sleep with children. So I don't see how that supports your point.

No particular order:

1. Not all rape and incest in fandom is shown with an 'okey-dokie, to each their own attitude.' That may be what you get your panties in a bunch about, but it's hardly representative of all that happens in fanfic.

2. In GWtW, Scarlett's One True Love-- Rhett, the 'man she let get away,' is also her rapist.

3. Oedipus is hardly the only incest in the Western (or Eastern) canon, just the first off the top of my head. And fuck, they had kids.

4. I don't really give a shit what offends you. I hate rapefic and won't read it. But dude, it's all made up. Why get so crazy about it?

1. I don't give a crap about the rapecest when it's not supposed to be a good thing, *that* is my point. When it's a turn-on and they try to justify it as being healthy, that's when I have a problem with it.

2. Okay, I'll take your word for it. Never cared about GwtW.

3. Hell no he's hardly the only incest in any canon, but he seems to be the rapecest fans' icon of choice, and I'm saying the incest in there was the point of the whole tragedy-- it's not a good thing for them, so why are people using it as a justification for their kink? And what does their having kids have to do with anything? Their kids were all screwed up by it, too, it brought a curse on his entire family. If you want something that doesn't judge it as much, try John Irving.

4. And I don't care if people keep it to themselves and never bother anyone with it. It's the ones that get pissed off when someone doesn't like it and bitch about how it's just a fantasy and fantasies never hurt anyone. Do I think everyone who writes rapefic as a kink is going to go out and actually rape someone? Hell no, but it does sure as hell say enough about them for me to know I want nothing to do with them. If someone wrote a bunch of fic about pedophelia, would you let them babysit your kid, even if they never acted on it? Most people sure as hell wouldn't, 'cause the fact that the idea's there in the first place is enough to put people off. Everyone's got their kinks, but when you post yours online for the world to see, you lose the right to bitch about people judging you for them.

When you get right down to it, people can't help what they find attractive. I could go into the psychology behind it, but that's the long and short of it. Is it an act that's condoned? No. Hell no. Is it still a fantasy? Yes. But it's the difference between fantasy and reality that needs to be marked here-- you're confusing one for the other.
