(Anonymous) 2008-03-07 06:59 am (UTC)(link)I mean LJ originally had no problem, then changed their TOS without telling anyone, then a few days later said 'no-no fanworks is OKAY!', then banned two fanartist who had aged-up the characters in question to adults, then they really didn't give any clear answer when people started pointing out that two months earlier the CEO of the company told us himself that fanworks wouldn't be targeted, then they had no explanation for the fact they allow a real pedophile to keep his LJ, then they had no explanation why an anorexia comm is allowed to stay despite the fact it gives TIPS on how people (specifically underaged girls) can kill themselves by not eating, etc, etc.
Basically it came down to people being pissed at LJ for wanting to "protect" fictional characters but not real children. It seemed like everyone except for LJ got the fact that 'real people > fictional characters'.
