This is entirely possible and not something I have enough knowledge about to properly discuss!

Although from what I do know, Geisha, while not sacred, are still taken fairly seriously in Japan, there's an entire cultural thing surrounding it, and it's at the very least a bit rude to wear a Geisha costume while knowing nothing about it just because you wanna look 'sexy and exotic.'

It isn't rude at all, outside Japan. It would be rude within Japan, because they would be your hosts. Hosts house, hosts rules. Outside Japan of course the Japs are in someone else's house.

They're not taken seriously in Japan, not at all. There are dozens of tourist places you can go to "dress up like a geisha" and have your photo taken and the Japanese business owners there love to take your money.

Japanese people seriously give no shits about it.
