Things that are uncomfortable to do

[personal profile] philstar22 2016-02-24 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Are there any things that make you feel uncomfortable or weird when you do them even though they are normal? Like, for example, things that make you feel like you are spending too much money.

Just ordered room service in my hotel room. It feels really awkward, like should I really be spending that much money? But I'm in my pajamas and studying and it would take too much time to go downstairs and the bar starts tomorrow. And I do have a food budget because I knew the hotel food was going to be expensive.

Answer the phone when I don't know who's calling. Actually, answer the phone, period. Also, call people on the phone.

I so agree with this. I"m awful on phones. I never know what to say, and I never know how to end calls. I generally just awkwardly trail off.

Calling people for things like reserving a hotel room or making an appointment at the doctor/dentist/salon/whatever.

Calling anyone on the phone or answering the door, except maybe when it's my family. When I was growing up, my mother never liked answering the phone or the door unless she knew who was calling/visiting, so I guess her attitude kind of rubbed off on me.

Dealing when my boss gives me feedback at work. He usually frames it pretty positively and I know he's not attacking me personally, but I hate it when I have to go into his office, sit down and explain why I did X and Y when he expected A and B.

Going to the post office to send off a package. I'm living in a non-English speaking country and while my grasp of the language here is enough to do day-to-day tasks, I still get nervous as hell when the staff check and cross-check the items I'm trying to send and ask me for more detailed descriptions. Even though I know the items are most certainly not dangerous or prohibited.

Basically, I'm too anxious for my own good.
