I've heard Dragon Age and Fire Emblem: Awakening also get a lot of fics where the customizable MC is used as an author stand-in who gets to be incredibly overpowered and bang the author's favorite love interest.

Happens in Fallout, too!

I guess it's because these are some of the only fandoms where OCs are not only common, they're encouraged. Leads to some pretty bad self-inserting!
