came here to say this. back in the day when I was writing fanfiction A LOT of the fics I read were very similar, and I ended up writing similar ones aswell, because with certain fandoms and/or pairings there will be preferred tropes, which will often lead to similar plotlines. In the end it was unintelligible which of the fics on the net originally came up with certain ideas. It was all just one blob of common tropes explored in different words. Didn't come from someone finding another's fanfic "great enough to rip off" though.
So, OP, try maybe not to flatter yourself too much I guess? Ego boost from being ripped off is bullshit. It's the lowest kind of ego boost you can get (like a literary form of "he wants to rape me so he must be totally into me") and you can do better.
