Age and generation wank, where the young people are lazy and entitled and the old people are stuck in the stone age.

Millennial happens to be the name of the generation born from 1982-2000, the label itself is unimportant. It happens with every gen.

Because if you were born in 1980, you would be 20 in 2000. Millenials are those 18 or under in the Y2K.

Some definitions do in fact start at 80 afaik.

Because I was born in late '79, but most of my classmates growing up were born in '80 and it would be weird if they were of a whole different generation. (Some people born in '81 went to school with people born in '82 but those people are not me so I don't care.)
