I liked how they did not go there in the end, but I wouldn't have minded if they had, because the outcome would have been the same except for another level of morally ambiguous Leon. It would have fit the characters, too. I knew a few people when I was a kid who suffered from parental abuse (mostly neglect and occasional beating related to alcohol) and in more than 50% of these cases the person started having (underage, like 11, 12 years) sex and relations with an older or dominant (often abusive) partner, maybe as a result from feelings of inferiority mixed with the desire to escape their situation at home. So it would sure have made sense for her to seek out that sort of situation, at least from what I can tell.
