11. Personally, I don't recall anywhere in fandom where I've been made to feel ashamed or self-concious about being an American. It seems like people from other places I've met *understand* that I (and other Americans) are *individuals* who may or may NOT agree with what the leadership is doing. Maybe it's just the people I've encountered.
Now, being a Christian in fandom on the other hand... Whole 'nother story.

From what I've seen, your problem isn't being a Christian. It's your habit of deliberately misinterpreting statements that gets you roasted.

Is this a personal attack on me? Because I certainly don't recall seeing you before. I'm really sorry for whatever I did to offend you so much to come up to me out of the blue like this.

I wasn't speaking only for myself. I speaking in general, from what I have observed in fandom. For my part, I've decided to stop going to the places that are the most inflammatory about things like this (this community being an exception, but I've never officially joined, nor do I submit secrets).

Also, I don't understand how someone can "deliberately misinterpret" a statement. You either misinterpret something or you don't - misinterpretation is, by definition, a mistake. If I have been misinterpreting people - it's just that, honest misinterpretation, perhaps because someone wasn't being particularly clear.

As it is, I'm sorry I even said anything at all. I should have known I would get flak.

IAWTC--everyone I've met doesn't give two hats. Respect to individualism that I've found aside, we're all insane 'tards in fandom, obviously we aren't pillaging and eating the hearts of the innocent when there's fandom. :'D

I think it's really neat how I've met people online who live in England, Australia, Romania and other places ... and we're all united by our shared love of a comic/animated series that was/is made in Japan. *Grin*
