(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)I wouldn't say I "dislike" gender stereotypes per se. I mean, I dislike the FACT that these stereotypes exist because uh, duh, stereotyping is an inherently bad thing and does nothing but limit the number and diversity of stories that can be told, but I don't dislike individual characters/plotlines/relationships just because they fall into a gender stereotype.
It's just that I'm very interested in gender subversions too. And gender stereotypes are all over, but gender subversions take some effort to dig up so when I find one in fandom they feel a lot more...rewarding? Whereas finding a variation on a couple that's just another gender stereotype is kinda..."oh, here's another one on top of the pile."

(Anonymous) 2016-02-27 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)I'm primarily into het, and in my small fandom, most of the het is femdom or the men are excessively passive and mushy (if there's any sex at all), and as a submissive woman, I just want them to take control! So I guess I'm coming from the same place, opposite end.
