That's almost as annoying as all the 'like if you support this sad child/dying person and if you scroll past you're a heartless monster' shit that shows up on Facebook.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-28 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
What about the gay people who don't support it because they don't want the heteronormative cookies?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-28 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm gay and I keep scrolling. Guess I'm homophobic.

Lol. Those posts are such shit. The author's just using gayness to get popularity points.

Me too.

Queers against emotional blackmail!

Me three.

The moment a post goes "reblog if" and it's not something randomly funny, I will ignore it.
Bonus points if: "I will write all the URLs into a book and show my homophobic/racist parent"
Yeah, they're clearly going to believe that you didn't make those up. And even if... that will totally be the one thing that will change their mind! (I get desperation, but what kind of plan is that even?)
And jackpot for someone going "Why doesn't this have more notes????" under it.

There's a post exactly like that, down to the more posts, in dog fandom. I wonder if I can find it. I think I blocked the OP I was so sick of seeing it.

I don't reblog crap like this. No matter how i agree with it, that kind of emotional blackmail I do my best to keep off my dash

(Anonymous) 2016-02-28 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Emotional blackmail for the win!

Not.

I don't reblog crap like that. I also don't reblog 'TYPE AMEN IF U LUV JESUS. KEEP SCROLLING IF U WANT SATAN TO WIN.' (And let's not even talk about the 'conversations' between Jesus and Satan about how Jesus's child will share, but Satan's spawn will keep scrolling. That shit has some hell-worthy grammar.)

However, I reserve my hatred for those posts in size 38 font that start out with a giant arrow pointing at the author's avatar and the words 'THIS PERSON...' That is so obnoxious and attention seeking and I hate it with the fury of a thousand exploding suns.

Any time people pull that kind of shit, it makes me want to do the "bad" thing out of spite even if I actually agree with their point. (bad thing meaning ignore, not reblog, not share etc. I would not go out and be a dick to someone just because a person was obnoxious on their behalf online.)

(Anonymous) 2016-02-29 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I ignore them, honestly I don't feel the need to have a bunch of posts to confirm that I do in fact support LGBT rights, I just do and I know that. And I know that it will show through my actions.

Honestly when I see someone reblogging every one of those posts, they kinda come off insecure like they just need to "prove" something.

Reminds me of the time during a Mother's Day church service when the pastor said "If you love your mother, come to the altar." My mother, grandmother and I refused to do so out of spite, and my grandmother was the least spiteful person I've ever met. Everyone has their limits, I suppose.
